SDRangel in your browser & WebSDR

Still much debugging to be done, so will hang quite a lot, but shows it should be possible.

With the updated Remove TCP Sink / Input, you should be able to setup / run your own WebSDRs fairly easily. The TCP protocol now has support for compression and IQ squelch in order to save b/w - and the Map will show publicly available servers.

In order to use RTL SDR devices in Chromium on Linux, you need to make sure that no driver is automatically loaded. Note that Firefox doesn't support WebUSB, so we can't support USB devices in that.

You can prevent a driver from being loaded by blacklisting it, with:

sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-rtlsdr.conf

Code: Select all

blacklist RTL28xxU
blacklist RTL2832U
blacklist dvb_core
blacklist dvb_usb_rtl2832u
blacklist dvb_usb_rtl28xxu
blacklist dvb_usb_v2
blacklist rtl2830
blacklist rtl2832
blacklist rtl_2830
blacklist rtl_2832
blacklist r820t
blacklist rtl8xxxu
Then rebooting.

You can check what driver is loaded for a USB device, with the 'usb-devices' command and check it shows Driver=(none) for the RTL SDR.
