I reckon that most of us are using magnetic loop of some kind, be it MLA, Wellbrook, aaronia (the prices, lol) etc. Most non-HAM-users who use electric-component antennas are probably ok with miniwhip.
Are there any other interresting choices for RECEIVING only?

Wellbrook mag loop here, although I find the amps a bit unreliable.

Yeah, btw I'm using twice-looped MLA30+ mainly, but starting to like a miniwhip much better 
What are you using to power an amp? I found that some stabilized PS was adding so much noise, not to mention all kind of USB bias-t units that right now I'm thinking of using betteries.
A small 12V remote control... or maybe even a car battery. Should be better, no?

I'm using the supplied Wellbrook PSU, which I presume is just a switched mode converter and bias-tee with a bit of filtering. Don't use it much so haven't really investigated it though.
A battery should have less noise, but it doesn't necessarily matter - have to measure it to see!
