while I'm here - stuttering/buffering

Post by fla5hrat »

So yes - less than experienced hand at sdrA here, but getting better 🙄 Anyway - this is probably due to the nature of the beast, and that while P+ is an enhancement, it's a kind of vaporware - the apparent creators made one initial release on github and that was it, no updates from them - but anyway.

This is what I get consistently when device is connected via LAN, no matter the sample rate, or anything I can think of to "streamline" the stream. The initial stutter is obviously the video capture starting, but you can see there's a consistent slow-down showing in the spectrum which I've been able to pretty much resolve completely on sdrconsole by upping the buffers to 250ms from 100ms as the default.

My system is fairly beefy 32GB RAM, i7 hex core, RTX3090 so there should be no issue in processing - again, I'm leaning toward some buffer, whether network or on the P+ side or on the sdrA side.

Sadly I don't think the P+ audience is as large as I thought/hoped when I grabbed it, maybe there's a solution from the OG Pluto camp on this? I apologise for being a pain in the A.

Looking at the P+ side of things if I'm running sdrA and getting the stuttering above - I'm looking at top on the device and it isn't even breaking a sweat system wise. The main process that seems to be the interface is the iio daemon, and it seems to be configured very bare bones, and tracing back through the init.d scripts it's leaning heavily on USB being the primary mode of connection which stands to reason given the Pluto.

I'll look deeper into this tomorrow, simply telling it to use a uri with IP throws an error, so much for an easy win there, has anyone seeing this tweaked the iio config?

...it's Windows, simple as that.

Rather than have a "solved" where someone might have to read through the lot of irrelevant post to get to solution - I'm posting just a solution so if this could be deleted, I'd appreciate :)
